“Happy are you…saved in the Lord!”  Deut. 33:29 (Danish transl.)

A dying aunt of mine once said,
“I know no matter what,
the nearby death I do not dread,
for this remains my lot:

“I do belong to Him in whom
I´m saved by grace alone!”
And, as it were, her cheeks did bloom
at that great gospel tone!

Her words her father´s text became
at that sweet daughter´s grave,
the grave stone had below her name
the words she him just gave.

“Saved in the Lord” that precious word
she still up yonder quotes,
the poor her music often heard
as she struck gospel notes!

“Saved in the Lord” by gospel grace,
o, what a “Shibboleth”!
Indeed, the Lord lit up her face,
in Him there is no death!
