Under the Dominion of Grace Udskriv

"For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law, but under grace!" Rom. 6:14

This is a promise.  It promises that those who have been saved and justified by grace "as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ"  (Rom. 3:25) are under the dominion of grace unlike the dominion of law.
What do I mean?  How do you understand this bold statement yourself?

Let me illustrate my point by presenting two persons.  One is strangely straitlaced, joyless and "pious" to the letter.  He may be a preacher or a simple churchgoer.  If he´s a preacher there will be a dull aura around him that makes those that shake hands with him feel inferior and condemned.

That kind of a legalistic guy is under the dominion of law.  I´ve met him, and so have you, I´m sure.

The happy, cheerful brother under grace is diametrically opposed to that flavor.  He´s smiling, fond of children, and exalts Christ!  He´s in love with the gospel of grace, he´s thankful to be among those the Shepherd found when he was lost and he makes much of the cleansing blood of Jesus.

He resents those grave religionists who talks about jumping out of grace and jumping again back into perdition.  Oh no, he´s so dominated by grace that he stays there.  Indeed, he may fall in sin, but that will always lead to immediate sorrow and confession in keeping with 1 John 1:9.

I never get along with legalists.  They throng everywhere.  Jesus may be in their religious vocabulary, but without real grace.  He is not to them "the one" (Rom. 5:17), i.e. the only One, nay Christ plus nothing!

Yesterday I fellowshipped with a woman with the dreadful ALS disease.  She understood me, but couldn´t speak herself.  From the look of her dear face I could tell how the gospel of grace "caught".  That touched me of course, and it made me happier with grace with a new desire to exalt His grace , the dominion of which I´m under.  That promise standeth fast!
