I´ve had the liberty and boldness recently, in a series of articles,  to share with my Scandinavian readers certain biblical teachings on  baptism and the Lord´s Supper or the "Breaking of Bread".

 My contention is that baptism is an open, public testimony about our identification with Christ whereas the "Breaking of Bread" is an intimate "family gathering" of God´s children to thank/worship our glorified Lord.  It warmed my heart when last Sunday a 10 years old boy raised his voice and said, "We thank you, Lord, for all You have done for us!" 

In both cases these acts proclaim the cross and its glories and implications  when it comes to our separation from the worldly old life.  I´ve had the joy of baptizing young girls in the ocean that separates us from Sweden  (just a narrow belt), and I have also "celebrated" the Lord´s Supper with a lonely old believer confined to an old age home for blind people.

In a home abt. 30 miles from our place they always insist on our having the Breaking of Bread together.  They are Tamil people with a dad and a mother and two girls, 2 and 4 years old plus a young man, the mother´s brother from Sri Lanka, with whom I have to communicate in English only.

I find a simple gathering like that very touching.  One day I saw something  new.  The four years old girl lifted her cup as if she wanted to propose a toast!  Of course she little understood what it was all about, but I feel convinced that the great Friend of the little children smiled warmly at her.

I have taken part in good rallies in Norway.  We always set one day apart for "the breaking of bread".  Now, most of the believers are of Lutheran background, I think, though I´m not 100% sure.  Anyway, their practice and tradition may be different in the outward, and yet we were one undivided body in a Spirit of unity.  And, mind you, "my cup runs over!"

I like that, and I´m sure it´s pleasing to our Lord too.  It may not be so well pleasing to certain straitlaced isolationists or legalists, but PTL, we don´t go by their standard, as we, by the grace of God, should always walk acc. to a completely different rule, i.e. the rule of the cross.  Gal. 6:16. -   Amen?
