There was much that moved me yesterday from Capitol Hill.  In fact, I again became an American!    I was impressed by the dignity of the feast, the mentioning of our Lord Jesus Christ, the beautiful framework and also a well functioning security corps, and last but not least, the tender 16 years old charmer, Jackie Evancho, who sang into our hearts the National Anthem.

I couldn´t help feeling that I was listening to a needed shaking up speech of an untraditional, self-taught statesman who had the courage to oppose the establishment in plain terms to what the Bible calls "the common people".  Personally I´d hoped that he would comment on his decision to move the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city of Jerusalem.  Nevertheless his speech made me feel more American than Danish!

The zenith was reached, as far as I´m concerned, when Franklin Graham in his modest way, instead of just reading a well prepared prayer from a manuscript looked up 1 Tim. 2:1-5 and read a most relevant passage about making intercession and showing respect for our rulers, including some powerful words about the loving, saving will of God meant for "all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" ending up with the good news of
"Christ Jesus who gave Himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time…"

He left the huge crowd and the billions of TV viewers around the world with these gospel words, he then turned around again heading for hi seat, but was immediately stopped by President Trump who warmly shook hands with him and said some kind words of appreciation to him.  (I think he did that).  I´m sure that Graham´s short, but powerful gospel ministry went home to old Trump´s heart.  I myself could hardly hold back my tears.

And thus the inauguration feast was close to being an awakening meeting.  Did I say that I felt very American?  You bet I did!
