Now I Know Whom I´m Going to Give My Vote! Udskriv

After the last muddy debate where almost a night´s sleep was lost I said to my wife, "Now I know whom I´m going to give my vote:  YOU ! "  In a cheerful way God made that clear to me. I vote for Him who once gave me that wife in His unfathomable grace.

We have no sophisticated platform, no show, no game to be played and no shallowness is needed, no play to the gallery, -  in other words be just the kind of failing creatures we are under God´s unmerited grace  heading for the eternity while we´re still hearing the strokes of  the clock.

My obscure "gallery" is that private gathering of precious souls in the royal errand of the gospel.  In a way I´m grateful for the spectacular election campaign as it´s speaking to me about the "campaign" I should be running as one of the Lord´s "nominees" with a gospel vision to pass on as did Paul (1 Cor. 15:3).  The muddy debates do remind me of the "muddy-free" cause of the gospel about which we as Christians should stand together before a watching world.

In this world we are, but not of this world.  And yet we should be among those that pray for "all in authority" spiritually animated by this vision or "program" if you will, to the effect that our God "desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth"  (1 Tim. 2:1-4).

If this is really true our few measured days still left in this world will be meaningful with the glorious perspective of the gospel.  Bear with me when I again quote old Billy: "That is our mission...to be Christ´s ambassadors to the whole world, asking people to be reconciled to God.  The primary message that I´ve tried to carry all over the world has been that God loves you.  He gave His Son to die for you."

Billy Graham´s days among us will soon be over, but he now, as it were, challenges us to pick up his gospel cloak like Elisha (2 Kg. 2:14) and try to "bring others to Christ"  (2 Tim. 4:5, Living Bible) before "closing time".

Praise the Lord for opening our eyes for what our campaign should be about!
