Who is Right? Udskriv

As a young, immature student in PA ages ago I clashed severely with the director of a the missionary training center on doctrines, and in the wake of those tense days I sunk into deep despondency not far from a potential suicide.  The Lord willed it otherwise.  His rich grace let me see its word of life "spread" (2 Cor. 4:15) and  precious souls were saved.

But the dark shadows followed me for quite some time, and sometimes even today.  One of the students asked at a later date a prominent leader, "Who was right?  Jørn or ... (his name was mentioned)?"  The wise answer was, "God was right!"  Thus the Gordian knot was cut.

I´m thinking of that these days as a hot-tempered election campaign is now running for open curtains with all its unpleasant mudslinging.  Who is right? He or she?  The answer is again the same, God is right!

This goes for Nov. 8 too, for "choose for yourselves this day, whom you will serve!"  (Jos. 24:14).  Siding once and for all with Christ and His gospel, we´re heading for a day of victory.  God may let nations rise and fall as His tools for punishment and judgment.  America has been such a tool, but may soon be liable to punishment herself one day.

It has been well said, if that doesn´t happen to our apostate civilization, God owes an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah. But that will not happen.   On the contrary, those cities are meant to be a warning to the present day´s ungodly nations and individuals.  For God is right, "that You may be found just when You speak and blameless when you judge" (Ps. 51:4).

If He tarry, we will find Nov. 8 to be still "an acceptable time" as "the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2), and despite our failures we may spread the good news and have a happy share in that "acceptable time", Amen?
