When Fellow Patients Talk Udskriv

”The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.”  Luke 19:10

We are four of us sitting at the same table day by day, two ladies and two gentlemen.  We eat together and go to the treatments together, though every treatment is tailored to the need of each individual.  3 weeks are lying ahead now at this beautiful sanitarium.

Just before my wife took me to this treatment centre, abt. 25 miles away, an old praying woman from our home fellowship said to me in the telephone, “I´m praying that you´ll get an opportunity to preach the gospel!”

Flemming (63) from ”my” team and I were one evening alone in the library.  It was as if the Spirit whispered to me as He did to the evangelist Philip (Ats 8:29):  “Go over and join him!”  Unlike the Ethiopian eunuch Flemming was not studying the word of God.  A newspaper was his choice.

He wanted to talk however.  I listened to his story of an active life.  His job had been in the lumberyard.  His wife works at some office.  Less than two years ago he had to quit because of Parkinson´s disease plus osteoarthritis, so he was now in a rather poor shape. My heart certainly went out to him. And it pleased the Lord to give me access to his heart.
Now I quietly told him how The Good Shepherd found me as a 14 years old lad, and I witnessed to him of my joyful hope for the eternity.  “Here at this sanitarium they do what they can to relieve our bodies, but let us face it. Our poor bodies won´t last forever”, I said.

Flemming listened quietly.  Finally I gave him my little, almost “famous” card with the picture of our banner that has a white cross on it.  I added, ”You see, the reason why The Good Shepherd found me is very simple.  Through my testimony He´s seeking you, too, but you must be willing to let Him find you!”  Flemming got the point.

Another gospel seed had been sown in the peak viewing time of TV, but we didn´t miss anything.  The reality of the eternity was coming close, and so was the old, old gospel – but still so new, refreshing and glorious today as it has always been…
