”Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of His Servant?  Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God!”  Isa. 51:10

Sometimes we like to say - exultantly - that we are “sunshine children” because Jesus is our light.  The truth is that though we are children of light some of us may nevertheless , time and again, walk in deep darkness for many mysterious reasons.   I think I know what I´m talking about.

Are we born of God with a new nature that “fears the Lord and obeys His Servant” (Christ), such dark hours may be but a gloom, disguised prophecy in the providence of God announcing that new blessings are coming.  Jesus is the same in the dark as He is in the light.

“Let him!”  These are the powerful words of Him who cannot be denied.  Our enemy snarls at us, “I won´t let him”, but the “Overseer of your souls” (1 Pet. 2:25) says “Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord”.  The way of trust has already been prepared for us!

Have you recently been on the top of Tabor together with God´s people under the showers of His blessings?  Don´t be surprised then if some shadows suddenly evelop your soul in a misty fog. But:  “Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face…”  You´ll soon see that face.  He will let you!
