Just a sobering word in the midst of the world´s delight with the death of Osama bin Laden which seems to make the U.S. president stand high in the favor of his people.  Unrest and fear will still be simmering we know, and Denmark  also considered a target of terrorism.

Part of our flesh and blood being in CA, we always follow keenly the affairs in America the spiritual heritage of which is ours too.  It is doubtful, however, if the world has now become a better place to live in, but anyway some moments of triumph have been granted to the U.S. and its allied.  The world is not becoming better we know, and how long a rope God will still give it, we do not know.  I´ve noticed that the term “The Arab Spring” is being frequently used these days referring to the uprising in North Africa and the Middle East.  We´re looking for a completely different kind of spiritual spring, nay the “summer” foretold by our Lord (Luke 21:30).

God´s people are at the leading edge of world events, leaning on the promises of the Bible and filled with its Spirit.  The governing principle is, “I have told you before it comes, that when it when it does come to pass, you may believe.”  (Joh. 14:29).    Personally I´m constantly being ridiculed in our local newspaper by mockers because of my dependence on “a book” (the Bible) as my reliable point of reference.  How naïve can you be!  The truth is somewhere inside you, they say, and the truth is relative, not absolute.  So these exciting days should stimulate us to gird us with the belt of truth (Eph. 6:14) and be bold about it in the open and not only let it be reserved for exclusive, sympathetic Bible groups.

God bless our American brothers and sisters on the walls of Zion who don´t see themselves as intellectual disputers, but as faithful, simple witnesses of Him who is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” as true light bearers “in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation”   (Phil. 2:15).  Our true calling is not to make this world better but to proclaim the saving rescue in Christ “ from this perverse generation” (Acts 2:40) while still being in the world, but “not of the world” (Joh. 17:16).
