"Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my Lord!" (Psa. 42:5)

Tune: God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform….

Why are you, soul, cast deeply down?
Why is your spirit dumb?
Why all that sadness and that frown
you cannot overcome?

Take courage, though, wait on the Lord,
His clouds are full of rain,
the streams of water He once poured,
He soon pours forth again!

The clouds are His prophetic sign,
though gloomily arrayed,
that soon your countenance will shine,
when God removes its shade!

So join the psalmist when he sings,
"Just hope and calmly wait!"
And soon your heart will all its strings
with gladness will vibrate!

In all your darkness Christ is light,
though you may not Him see,
He is the morning of your night,
praise God, He´ll always be!
