"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost!" Luke

19:10.

"Can you point to a certain day in your life when you were saved?" the preacher would often ask his congregation. "If not, raise your hand, and let me pray for you!".

No, dear preacher, I can´t! Does that mean that I´m not saved?

In the beginning of my Christian life that question bothered me. I envied those who could really refer to a certain day and maybe hour when they were saved. Maybe it happened when they raised their hands in a church.

It didn´t happen that way with me.

However, I did trust the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don´t know the hour, but God does. I do remember the time when as an almost 15 years old lad something new happened. For the first time in my life I looked up in a Bible, drawn by an invisible power of love which I later understood was the The Good Shepherd seeking His lost sheep. The Bible says that "faith comes from hearing…." (Rom. 10:17). That was exactly what happened.

I didn´t make a "decision" to believe. The saving faith "came" when I through the reading came under the hearing of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and His saving power. It was as simple as that.

I used to envy those with touching stories of salvation. I don´t do it now. When I witness to somebody my story is very simple. It´s about the Shepherd who found His lost sheep.

That I´m bold enough to say today. And I would add, "The reason why He found me is that through me He is now seeking you too!"

But to begin with I was extremely shy.

I asked a friend on the west coast what he thought about my way of talking to people.

He said, "I do exactly the same!"

Even through the written word the Shepherd may seek the lost. Maybe these words are read by some unhappy "lost case"? A young girl prayed, "Lord please find me, for I can´t find myself!" The seeking Shepherd will hear that prayer. And your prayer too, if this is really your prayer.
