Tune:  God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform….

A legal, lifeless holiness
just leaves me cold and dead,
it never does me truly bless,
but does confuse my head!

Its words may sound so soft and well,
but leads me to nowhere,
it rather has a bondage smell,
with which I badly fare!

In Jesus Christ and Him alone,
I freedom breathe and feel,
with Him I´m seated on His throne,
while I´m in worship kneel!

My sinful nature has been doomed
and hopeless to repair,
improvements cannot be assumed,
they lead to sad despair!

That lesson isn´t easy though,
but  in my solitude
by faith I to the gospel go
so hungry for its food!

Praise God, the Spirit Christ reveals,
when you His comfort need,
your soul He both restores and heals,
His hungry sheep He´ll feed!

My friend, drink in what Christ has done,
O, awesome is His grace!
For Jesus is the only One
that brightens up your face!
