”And they shall know that my name is the Lord.” Jer. 16:21
A study on Phil. 2:9-11 where Isa. 45:23 is actually quoted reveals the fact that ”the name which is above every name” is the LORD Jesus put on the same level as the Father. The LORD in the Old Testament is in Hebrew ”JHV” or Jahve or Jehovah. In Joh. 12:41 the Holy Spirit points to Christ and His glory and refers to Isa. 6:3 to emphasize that truth. So the words, ”Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory!” is as much about the glory of Christ as it is about the glory of the Father.
Is this just an academic study of a scholar? To many I´m afraid it is. When, however, you go an errand as His ambassador you rejoice and may hold your head high being aware of your high calling.
We once went from door to door, my friend Roy and I, in Pa. during our “boot camp” days. A lady invited us in for coffee and expressed her approval of our desire to tell others about Jesus. Then Roy bluntly asked the question which warmed my heart: “Who is He?” And a gospel testimony followed which glorified Jesus putting Him where He belongs, i.e. as our supreme Savior and Lord.
“Speak well of Christ” was the tip an older preacher once gave me. A right teaching of Christ will keep you from erroneous teachings about Him. This is possible only when we´re saturated by the word of God which equips us for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17), nay also “the work of an evangelist” (2 Tim. 4:5)
