”May His glory fill the whole earth!”  (Isa. 6:3, altern. translation)

We read in Joh. 12:41:  ”Isaiah … saw His glory and spoke of Him.”  Is this also our experience?  Or do we deserve the name “Ichabod”? *)  The world sees no glory in Him.  The non-believers would rather say, “he had no beauty, no majesty to draw our eyes” (Isa. 53:2, NEB).  But those who have made a true experience with Him gladly say, “We have seen His glory…”  (Joh. 1:14).

Indeed, beholding that glory (with the eyes of our hearts!), we “are being transformed… from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord (not from the “flesh”!) who is the Spirit.”  (2 Cor. 3:18).

“Isaiah saw His glory and spoke of Him.”  Only those to whom Christ has been revealed as glorious will speak of Him in a convincing way.  Our job is first and foremost to sit down with our brother or sister and by His grace point to the glory and merits of Christ acknowledging that we  nothing of the kind in ourselves – only darkness.

These warm words from my youth in the U.S. have kindly followed me:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace!
