“By the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established!” (Deut. 19:15)
To a friend from the Danish Jewish aristocracy the Lord in His grace gave me boldness to say to him recently, “My statement of faith is purely Jewish!” And I opened my Bible and read for him Isa. 53:5-6. This was my best visit with him and his wife so far.
This I mentioned at our afternoon meeting last Friday at a beautiful place in Western Denmark. So again Isa. 53 went, as it were, right in. O, that chapter which according to Spurgeon is wetted with blood of Christ!
Later I asked a young man to share a word with us. He was there in the evening, as he couldn´t make it earlier because of his job. What did he share? Isa. 53! He didn´t know about our afternoon gathering. But so wonderful to have that chapter re-emphasized.
By the way, I don´t believe in “one man´s ministry”. We shouldn´t be so “churchy” that we can´t give access to the free sharing. “Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, a teaching…” etc. Only “let all things be done decently and in order!”
The Spirit was good and I was encouraged. A good relationship was established with a fine, honest dear lady, very religious and enthused about Jesus. Yet I had to quietly tell her the necessity of a new, spiritual birth. That´s really our true need in our churches. In the middle class Christendom. In Denmark and I believe in your country also.
