With prophetic insight David at his deathbed said to Solomon, “If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel!”  2 Kg 1:4.

The Man lacking “on the throne of Israel”, is the Messiah!  But He will not always be lacking!  Despite the present unbelief of the Jewish people, the God of Israel says, “My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose” (Isa. 46:10). In His days of rejection, Jesus said, ”I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”  (Mt. 23:39).  Notice the little word ”until”.  Doesn´t that suggest that one day they shall see Him again?   “You will not see me again, until….”

They had a foretaste of that at His triumphal entry in Jerusalem when the crowd was shouting, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” Joh. 12:13. So, friends, the Man lacking on the throne of Israel will not always be lacking!  God´s counsel shall stand!

Another man is lacking too!  A superman, Satan´s last spade, to sit, as it were, on the vacant throne of Europe!  “We don´t know who he is and from where he comes, but we know he´ll come, for we´re waiting for him”, Jean Henri Spaak, the Belgian foreign minister, one of the fathers of the EEC (The European Economic Community – today called: EU) said more than 50 years ago.  It sounded like an anti-Christian prophecy, didn´t it?

So at this juncture two men are lacking.  Europe is latently waiting for another political genius.  The saints redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, are however waiting for “His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.”  1 Th. 1:10

O, may Christ not be lacking today on the throne of our hearts!
