These very days I´ve been excited about the one word “The Throne”, mentioned 39 times in the book of Revelation.  The second most frequent word there is “the Lamb”, mentioned 28 times., suggesting that the Lamb of the cross is now the King of kings on the throne.

This is not just a piece of theological information, it´s a practical, edifying truth.  There are many things we may not understand in the last book of the Bible, but we do rejoice in this wonderful truth which is the main thread throught out its pages:  “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”  (Rev. 7:10), meaning that He pulls the strings according to His own eternal blueprint.

It´s practical in the sense that we may calmly rest in this sovereign and all supervising Lord in tense situations saying:  “Lord, you are on the throne and this difficulty of mine is under your control too. -   “Even now I know…” (Joh. 11:22) are precious, applicable words which I often have to repeat.

“There will be…distress of nations in perplexity”  (Luke 21:25), and dark, threatening clouds are already on their way, for the world is on shaky ground, but  God´s people, “enthroned with Christ”  (Eph. 2:6, NEB translation), will like the people of Israel in Egypt always have light.  (Ex 10:23), nay, we are light in the Lord (Eph. 5:8).

That doesn´t mean that our lives in this world will be all rose-coloured.  We are in a constant battle, not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces “in the heavenly places”  (Eph. 6:12).  But we´re on the winning side, for He is on the throne!

The heart-seaching question is however:  Is He also on the throne of our hearts?  He was not on the throne of the Corinthian hearts which church  we´ve just exchanged thoughts about in our Wednesday morning study.  Neither is He on the throne of worldly Christians.  So may we know for sure if His Spirit has really filled us to dominate our walk – otherwise “positional truth” on our standing in Christ avails very little, but is rather a joke.
