”Nature is the name of an effect the cause of which is God!”  (William Cowper, British poet)

Almost the whole world flocked to Denmark represented by its 193 statesmen.  The outcome of the big Climate Conference was equal to zero.  The bill to our taxpayers is enormous.  But the U.S. may be pretty happy, for the theory of man made global warming doesn´t hold good, is not proved and should not be imposed on my American friends.  That doesn´t mean, of course, that we shouldn´t care about God´s creation.  As Christians we should show love to all that He has made, and we should likewise as Christians oppose all that violates the nature.

The UN and its sectarian panel don´t necessarily represent scientific truth.  They are almost like the children, our Lord talked about, “calling to their companions, and saying:  “We played the flute for you, and you didn´t dance”.  Matt. 11:16-17.  No, we shouldn´t dance to their pipe and accept their authority.  There are so many factors we don´t know anything about.  Honestly,  I don´t know more about the mysteries of climate changes than UN, Al Gore, Ban Ki-Moon, the Danish chairmanship, our climate minister or our climate commissioner do.  But there are conscientious scientists apart from the auspices of UN who want to present a different story telling us how the earth over the years has had its climate changes not man made.

Personally I believe that a country like Israel would be better able to contribute to advanced technology of renewable energy which could be a blessing to the poor countries.  But Israel is not “comme il faut” in the world community.  Its visiting president had the role of a silent spectator only.

However, we did learn something from COP15.   I did at least.  First, the leaders of the world and all of us have to recognize that only God owns the earth and we are responsible to Him as Creator.  But the word “God” wasn´t mentioned. With one exception though.  The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio da Silva (Lula) powerfully proclaimed that he believed in God and in miracles.  By the way, his eloquence (without MS) surpassed Obama at that conference.

Secondly, we seemed to see a world sighing for leadership.   There was a cry from the floor for help in that gloomy atmosphere. But that sigh, alas, without God, will find its fulfillment in the coming Anti-Christ foretold in God´s word. He will emerge as the gifted leader desperately longed for.

COP15  was indirectly an incentive to “discern the signs of the times” (Matth. 16:4) in the light of God´s word.  Christ is coming.  The world will soon come to its end.  The conference in Copenhagen ended up with pessimism and frustration.  The hope of God´s people is not based on any worldly ”conference” but on Him who said, ”The summer is now near!”  (Luke 21:29) – i.e. the summer of His coming.
