Simplicity should be our aim
In life as well as speech,
“Deep” talk is often just a game
And won´t the people reach!

The life in Christ is light and bright
With Heaven´s smiling grace
That drives away the gloomy night
With sunshine in its place!

The grace in Christ does make me bold,
Unworthy though I feel,
His gifts bestowed are manifold
And do heat up my zeal!

His Spirit is the wind that blows
Into my soul with strength,
My groans unspeakable He knows
Despite their endless length!

His gospel is my joy and pride
That makes my trumpet sound
In town and on the country side
And elsewhere all around!

Yes, say it simple, let it burn
And don´t be too profound,
I hope that noble art to learn
On solid gospel ground!
