”He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself;  he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son” 1 John 5:10

l learn more truth, and I´m affected by more ”real reality”, i.e. God´s reality in Jesus Christ, privately, on one-on-one basis, with a spiritually hungry soul, than I do in a “happy” party of fast-talking Christians who may not contain so much reality.  I don´t mean to say this arrogantly, -  God forbid! -, and I hope this simple story from everyday life will help you to understand why:

”From now on I won´t make God a liar any more”, a dear, hungry soul, ”poor in the Spirit”, just said to me. We had talked about the fact that it´s sadly possible to ”master” a lot of good Bible words without really believing them as words of truth.  We often quote them mechanically or even unctuously, but nothing really happens.  But now we read that ”he that does not believe God has made Him a liar” (1 John 5:10).  Suddenly that shocking, but also liberating truth helped my friend, and she, an elderly widow, could give the simple testimony mentioned above at my next visit (yesterday).

The persons we talk to are often a reflection of our own lives.  Also in the case just referred to.  But during a quiet, sincere talk like that I often learn more of reviving truth than I do by reading volumes of S. Kierkegaard whose works, though, I still love.
