A Norwegian theologian once ridiculed an old preacher friend of mine for his emphasizing the fact that there was no chair in the tabernacle for its high priest to sit down on.  “Why make a big fuss of that?” he snarled.

The theologian didn´t see the point which is this:  Only one High Priest could sit down and rest after the job had been accomplished for ever, our Lord Jesus Christ!  “Now the point in what we are saying is this:  we have a High Priest who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven.”  Hebr. 8:1

The high priest under the law had to repeat the job again and again as it would never be fully accomplished till Christ came.  Read Hebr. 1:3:  “After making purification for sins, He (Christ) sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”  Those who teach otherwise haven´t understood the gospel of the cross.

The point is also this:  Every redeemed believer is seated with Christ in the heavenlies!  God didn´t only raise up Jesus at Easter, but He also “raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus!”  (Eph. 2:6) – or as the NEB Bible so wonderfully puts it:   “He..enthroned us with Him!”

If you don´t see the point and its practical and joyous implications for your life, ask the Lord to make this positional truth real to you as you meditate on it with your Bible opened.  And He will.  Sit down, relax, praise Him for your enthronement with Christ and go out and let your face show it!  The world needs to see it!
