To trust Thee, Lord, I try to learn
when light I do not see,
and yet I in the darkness turn
in all my need to Thee!

Let go, let God, that simple word
does to our faith convey
the freedom of that happy bird
with songs of praise each day!

The faithful Shepherd of my soul
He in the meadows green
with love and care He does console
me on this gloomy scene!

My days on earth may now be few,
with Christ they all began,
when He made me a creature new,
nay, in His saving plan!

Besides, that glory and its thrill
my greatest joy was then
to see lost souls at His good will
be saved and born again!
