”Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this i right.  Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise).  That it may be well with you….”  Eph. 6:1-2

In these modern times we as Christians have a problem which no church, neither in the US nor in Denmark, can solve for us.  The “spirituality” that is cultivated in the church has little or no bearings on the Christian homes.  The church is often a way of escape from the home where the Christians are so to speak catching at a straw.  There´s too little ”church” in the homes, and too much ”church” in the churches.

As senior people we time and again share this pain prayerfully with one another.  We have a common concern for our children and our children´s children.  Are they really going to be like that generation in Judg. 2:10 “who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel”.  Worldly Christian homes without a biblical understanding of the child-rearing of Eph. 6:1-3, with a TV running almost all day, will undermine our old Christian nations.  Here and in Europe.

The church life is running at full throttle over a wide spectrum.   In its outward appearance it may look so joyful, but it´s not always a lasting thing.  The life on the home front is often a contradiction or a caricature.  Here is however the front where a spiritual battle is to be fought.  I don´t say this from a lofty pedestal.  I beat my own breast in the dust before the Lord.

The spiritual health of our nation is at stake.  We can´t challenge the world to become “better” or to become ”spiritual” or more moral.  We´re challenged ourselves to be God´s salt in the world.  Is that possible?  Is a personal spiritual revival possible?  You bet it is.  ”Revival begins with you”, I just read on a brother´s small “Please pray for us”-card. It doesn´t begin with the churches, no matter how sophisticated they are.  It starts with our homes demanding its price.

But isn´t it worth it?
