My latest small reflection "I Apologize" has caused some good and needed comments that makes me realize that I need to be jacked up.
When it comes to rulers and authorities our true point of reference should of course be Paul´s admonition in 1 Tim. 2:1-5 speaking of how we as Christians should pray for those "in high positions" no matter who they are or whether the names happen to be Trump or an evil Nero in Rome.
If the president happens to be a moral leader that believes in the biblical concept of marriage and takes a public stand against the abominable homosexual culture that sways our old Christian civilization or maybe rather the whole world, we should of course vote for him and pray for him "which is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior who desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth".
This is really the point to a follower of Jesus who has experienced the miracle of being saved and transformed by "the knowledge of the truth". A Christian who may get the privilege of sitting down with Mr. Trump would kindly assure him that he prays for him, but also urge him to get right with that God who desires the salvation of his lost soul too.
The urgency of the gospel and the salvation of the lost is our Christian agenda no matter what nation we come from. That was the watchword of the apostle Paul who said "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ". He was a good submissive Roman citizen, but he didn´t run any political campaign. He was out and out for the cause of the gospel.
"For this reason (or cause) I bow my knees..." (Eph. 3:14)
That gospel passion ignited by the Spirit of Pentecost I currently need to be jacked up on. Don´t you?
