At this time spiritual discernment is badly needed.  Powers of darkness will disturb our daily intimacy with the Bible.  We should be sensitive to the voice of the Shepherd as we face "every wind of (false) doctrine", Eph. 4:14.

I´m referring to this and that "convincing" prophecy uttered in some charismatic circles as if God has something for us in addition to His word.  They have "prophesied" to the effect that Trump was going to be another king Cyrus as God´s instrument for the benefit of America.

This a subtle trick of the enemy however.  Trump is not going to be a modern Cyrus.  It borders on blasphemy to utter such a "prophecy". Cyrus was God´s anointed servant, mentioned by name abt. 150 years before he was born, and his solemn mission had to do with the rescue of the Jews.

Cyrus was a godly man, Trump is not.  He once bluntly said that he´ll take care of his own sinful mess without the aid of someone else (God).  So Trump is Trump, not another Cyrus.  But he has still been legally elected, and it behoves us to pray for him as one in authority (1 Tim. 2:1-5).

With that attitude my wife and I will again visit our loved ones in USA  this year, and also be ambassadors for Christ "in every place", 2 Cor.2:14.

So I don´t "preach Trump", but a timely word about lining up with the American evangelist Dwight L. Moody who shortly before he died in Dec. 1899 described the kind of a preacher he wished for the new century:  He would a man, he said, that opens his bible and preaches from the Bible.

Simple believers who come together to read the Bible with the succor of the Holy Spirit in a praying fellowship are much more up-to-date than presumptuous "prophecies" by self-appointed "prophets".

Remember, we don´t love Jesus more than we love the Bible!  A neglected Bible means rust on your soul!  (Spurgeon).
