"He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." Ps. 126:6
With these encouraging words I wish to greet my precious English speaking friends, who may likewise be in the business of "sowing".
I may paraphrase the psalmist´s words by saying, "I walk out with my aching legs, not weeping (because of lack of seed), but rejoicing for the privilege of sowing in this barren field the life-giving word of God.
I´m indebted to the "Joyful Gospel Calendar" mission in Chicago who have "equipped" me with beautiful wall messages with gospel words. Even though the apathy is alarming, even among us Christians who would often rather go to church than go to non-Christians outside the church, the "sowing" has not been dispensed with as long as this "the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2) is still running. Or what do you think?
And I may add, "I walk out praying, bearing the seed" as "in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" (Gal. 6:9).
Why is the apostle talking about "losing heart"? Oh, he is very down-to-earth. There are thousands of things that easily creep in to paralyze our "business", or rather our "Fathers business" (Luke 2:49). I have no reason to be too "high" and elated myself knowing too well how much I´m of this earth too. And yet we should encourage one another to take heart leaning on His sufficient grace despite the many "thorns" plaguing us.
Let us remember, all "sowers" are imperfect tools that "stumble in many things (not just in a few things!)", Jam. 3:2). And mistakes we do along the way, but remember: He who never does mistakes, doesn´t do anything - or very little!
