How much for our Christian principles?

Sincere friends in America try to quieten me.  I shouldn´t be that appalled by the minor role the gay Bishop Gene Robinson is going to play today at the pre-inauguration prayer ceremony in Washington.  The real big day will be on Tuesday where Rick Warren will take the praying lead.  The bishop still plays his role.

In essence this bishop is saying in his heart, “I defy what the Bible has to say about the wrath of God against same sex relationships as set forth in Romans chapter 1!-   O God,  you are not that strict about laws that are not valid today, you are a God of love and has sealed your loving approval on homosexuality too. I praise you for being not the God of the old fashioned apostle Paul, Billy Graham, A.W. Tozer, Oswald J. Smith and many others who took the Bible too literally, so inconvenient for the gay society, to whom I´m proud to belong…..”

However,  “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” .  That applies to the individual as well as a nation.

You may say, “Don´t tell us what to do.  Our national motto is still “In God We Trust”, and you should show the same fairness as our new president is exhibiting.   I do raise my voice, though,  for at least two reasons.  Firstly, what the leadership of America is doing is but an echo of what we are doing in Europe.  So I´m not throwing stones.  Secondly, I love that wonderful country of the Founding Fathers as much as I love my own country, at least for family reasons..

My well meaning American friends would probably argue, that no political leader is supposed to call homosexuality a sin.  Why not?  The Italian, catholic member of the European Council, Rocco Buttiglione, boldly labeled homosexuality as sin abt. 4 years ago.  Yes, but he was sent packing, never to come back to the European Parliament, so doesn´t that prove the point that a politician should not publicly call anything sin?  He should restrict himself to do so within the church!

The argument is wrong.  You and I are not called to be pious members of a pious, protected group behind some massive church walls.  We are called upon to stand up for our Lord in the open and to love what He loves and hate what he hates.  It´s much better to be thrown out of a parliament or other elevated circles and be burnt on the political stake than to be disqualified by the Lord.   1 Cor. 9:27.  Life is short and soon we are to appear before His Throne which is not built on pragmatism and political, deceitful arguments, but on holiness and righteousness.
