From beloved U.S. friends that do a great, unselfish work within the publishing ministry, I shall also this year receive a shipment of what they call “Joyful News Gospel Calendars” for 2016 in a beautiful layout larded with glorious gospel words in our Danish language.  They are meant to hang on a nail on some wall in private homes with the Bible words conspicuously and kindly drawing the attention of say observing guests.

This is really a challenge, and I shared this challenge and gospel vision with our small cottage fellowship last Saturday.  “Love makes us inventive” is a sentence (rendered from Norwegian) in a heartfelt stanza, so I tried to discuss with my friends some inventive ways of prayerfully spreading the beautiful gospel calendars to our lost surroundings.

I paused before the Lord and asked, Am I too naïve? Especially when facing the enormous crowds of refugees at our borders. EU is at its wits end to find answers. Its leaders go to many conferences and dinners to discuss this dilemma, but nobody has an answer.  Besides, Europe has no strong leader who may go straight to the point with supernatural leadership.  Not yet at least.

So isn´t it a little naïve to step forward with the gospel “only”? Is that really the answer to the need of the hour?  I´m asking myself honestly this question before the Lord, “Would Christ have change the wording of the  great commission “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”, if that order had been given today?

No, the Lord is not naïve, for Christ is the only remedy to a lost world.  He didn´t die on the cross to instigate a game called “church” (a pseudo church, mind you) with all kinds of religious platform allurements.  The idea of the church (or assembly) is foremost on the Lord´s heart, but not as a platform show.  It´s meant to be, as it were, a  “boot camp” for spiritual warfare, and we´d better be straight about it and stop playing games.  The shipment of those moving gospel calendars is a broad hint to that end and humbles me anew.
