The shepherds angels see no more,
The duties are the same
With no sweet infant to adore,
For over is the game!

The wise men from the East went home,
And on the humdrum went,
They uttered still the word “shalom”,
But wondered what it meant?

Life wasn´t what it used to be,
For still the feast was there,
Lo, in God´s counsel and decree
The shepherds had their share!

Its celebration is in Christ,
In Him and Him alone,
And He whose blood was sacrificed
I gladly now enthrone!

So over isn´t that great feast,
Christ came with us to stay,
His joy and presence have not ceased,
But fills us day by day!
