Beloved, Let me, for a change, put this in English. Sadly enough I´ve been too selfish with my “mother tongue”  presuming that what´s  worth reading should be in Danish.  It´s not for nothing (I thought) that the world´s greatest thinker was a Dane, Søren Kierkegaard, who wrote in Danish only but others translated his works into many languages.  This won´t happen with me, for he was a genius, I´m certainly not.

It´s so touching, however, to receive loving words from abroad, nay from English and German speaking intimates. There are friends from our big southern, Germanic neighbor, whom I used to do a lot of strenuous things with in our frisky youth, but now overtaken by various frailties, sickness, hospitalization, and what goes with it.  These I have now in mind.

Indeed, they bravely and smilingly substantiate 2. Cor. 4:16 saying that “even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day”.  Their testimonies make me feel so rich.

My thoughts often dwell on old servants of God who are now enjoying the bliss of unbroken fellowship with our Savior in Heaven. They used to encourage me in crucial moments.  One dear Norwegian brother I remember as a very manly gospel preacher with a “silver voice”.  His  dialect wasn´t always that easy, and yet I was riveted.  In his old, frail days he couldn´t preach anymore, but he still wrote letters to me that just breathed Christ in all His riches and relations. His letters were evergreens.

I´ve made this wonderful experience.  Even though my “outward man” is past its prime, the Spirit of Christ is as young as ever, and I feel no “generation gap” with the precious young people around me.  We don´t worship each other´s age (nor beauty!), but rejoice in Jesus Christ. This is really my heart´s true and honest music. We should all be tuned for that this month, this Christmas month not the least.  Or what do you think?
