Some have responded to my word on ”Calvinism” with a love that touches my heart me too.  I trust it´s constrained with the love of Christ, thus pointing to the powerful message that “One died for all” (2 Cor. 5:14).  Dwell with me on that word for a few moments, my noble reader.

In fact, I want you to look at the very word “all”.   Oh yes, we do, some of my theological opponents would say, as long as that “all” means the elect.  So they don´t deny that that the death of Christ was a “ransom for all” (1 Tim. 2:6) as long as that “all” means “the elected all”, and then follows a well presented treatise garnished with a lot of “proof” texts.  Let me say it bluntly, I do not belong to their fraternity.

The beloved born again Swedish prince Bernadotte made the statement, abt. 100 years ago, that “all means all no matter how you spell it”.  The Swedish word is “alla”, and he said, “whether you spell it this or that way, it still says alla!”  And so he preached “alla” and some opened their hearts for the gospel´s “alla” in the Swedish court – others scoffed at it.

I have this concession to make.  That simple “all” has, paradoxically, made me a lonely man.  The enthusiasm from Sweden is rare.  Another Swedish conference speaker once said, “In Sweden we have many beautiful churches, many beautiful sermons, many good preachers, but there are very few with a passion for souls.”  A passion for a certain theological system may still leave you indifferent, “dry” and cold to souls.

A Danish printer has generously printed for me what I call “my card”.  It´s  a small folder in breast pocket size.  Its simple message revolves round this word “He died for all!” So I kindly hand it on to people.  Some gladly receive it, others contemptuously throw it away.

At some places I see my beautiful little card lying on the dirty ground, rejected and soiled.  But Christ died for mockers too.  I didn´t know better myself till “I obtained mercy” (1 Tim. 1:16).  So my message is, “This is why He had mercy with my life: The reason why you met me, is to tell you that He wants to be merciful to you too!”  For Christ died for all!  O, spell it again, friends, for yourself and the world! And with the love of Calvary!
