A modern version of “Noah´s Ark”, about ½ size, but still impressive, is on the quay in Denmark.  The Dutch owner, Aad Peters, granted me an interview while my secretary, Marin from Sri Lanka, took many pictures.

I parted with that gentleman with a sad feeling.  His ark has a wealth of biblical scenery and is an obvious opportunity to do missionary work, for the children not the least, but that was not his purpose, he emphasized.  He, a non-Christian, just wanted to spread common cultural knowledge.

The whole exhibition is sponsored by the Danish Bible Society which had a nice bookshop with Bibles and Christian handbooks for sale, including modern paraphrases of the Bible which however distort the Holy Scripture thus hoping to make its pages more acceptable to modern man.

My thoughts went to the American Bible committed work “Answers in Genesis” who also want to present a model of “Noah´s Ark” with the clear aim of pointing to a trustworthy Creator and a trustworthy gospel of Jesus Christ.  How it aches my heart to see how such a wonderful gospel opportunity was missed in my atheistic country on its peaceful waters.

I made up my mind that our Bible fellowship in our home today will be from Hebr. 11:7 which is the very New Testament epistle we are studying at the moment.  And may it please the Lord to make us, like Noah, preachers of righteousness lifting up Christ and His work to modern man.

My heart went out to mr. Peters, but he didn´t let me. He graciously received my simple gospel card though.  Like so many churches a good biblical framework was there, but no missionary work, no gospel passion, no risen Savior.  The ball is certainly in our court when it comes to doing “the work of an evangelist”  (2 Tim. 4:5) – or what do you think?
