Religion takes my soul nowhere
despite its subtle form,
its motions leave me in despair
and cannot make me warm!

Religion claims the Lord to know
and be so close to Him,
its charm however is a show
and sadly blurred and dim!

Praise God, He showed me that won´t do,
I´m stuck in sin´s “dead end”,
till He reveals that Christ is who
my soul can save and tend!

Christ Jesus and Him crucified,
to Him and Him alone
my conscience God in love has tied,
nay, as my cornerstone!

If you feel lost, be lost in Christ,
the safest place indeed!
The Lamb for sinners sacrificed,
be bold about that creed!
