… are those the psalmist refers to in Ps. 119:63,  ”I am a companion of all who fear You, and of those who keep Your precepts!” , i.e. those who obey God´s word.

Is our relation to His word right, our relationship to His people will be right also.  If not, there´s no true fellowship.

The psalmist is not a companion (in French it says ”friend”) with everybody and certainly not with religious people who practise a sinful life.  “He who sins (i.e. practise sin) is of the devil.”  (1 John 3:8).  Christendom hates those words.

But…to keep or obey His word doesn´t mean that we can´t sin.  God´s people are  erring.  Yet the new nature of a believer abhors sin, and when sin happens in a believer´s life it immediately takes the unhappy soul to  1. Joh. 1:9 without covering up anything.

What is godly fear?  Oh, it´s when our relationship to God overrules our relationship to anything else, is it not so?  But still, it doesn´t mean you are sinless.  A young man, newly converted, said to me:  “But what if I´m still bad?”  Well, it showed that he was now in the light of God with his life – in that light indeed where the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. 1 Joh. 1:7.

The psalmist (some think he´s  David) doesn´t say, ”I´m a companion (friend) with everybody with the same creed or church fellowship.  No,  ”the fellowship of the Spirit” (Phil. 2:1) embraces all born again believers despite their actual background or outward appearance.  Or what do you think?

The fellowship, in good old days called ”spiritual fellowship”, is being a  watered-down word (equal to mere sociability).  However, it´s so precious to all who with their hearts have trusted Christ as their Savior and Lord and brought into an obedient relationship to His word.  For frankly, is it possible to love Jesus and have no relationship to His word?  To live in a “bible belt” doesn´t mean that our waist is girded with its truth in a practical way.  Does it?  I mean in a warfare way?
