“Who is this … beautiful as the moon?” (S. of S. 6:10)

Dear moon, from where your beauty is
I learned as little child,
your beauty is not yours, but His,
your great Creator mild!

It is His shining sun you see,
without its light you´re dead,
and that applies to you and me,
the Lord is our bright Head!

I stare at you, this starry night,
as you reflect the sun,
that speaks to me of our true Light
in  Christ, the sparkling One!

I, too, feel like the barren moon,
in me I am no good,
but in God´s risen Son I soon
see what by faith I should!

I see myself with Christ upraised,
no longer I´m enslaved,
o,  for that truth the Lord I´ve praised
since I as young was saved!

That moon does teach us plain and straight
throughout its nightly course,
its light points to our Savior great
as our only source!
