At my wife´s lovable coffee table I asked some friends, “What do you think?  If a Christian being aware of the damaging teachings of the Roman church say to you, “I know it´s wrong, but where can I go? What is the alternative?”

Then followed some talk back and forth , and finally they were waiting for my answer. I said,  “Well, I like to give a biblical answer, so let us just read John 6:68, “Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life.” 

“This is the answer as I see it,  Go to the Lord and His word!  Let Him lead you together with believers who are also exercised about the simplicity of Matth. 18:20 which has so often been a blessing among us.  O,  how precious it is for me to be gathered with you in His name as members of His body!”

We went on with our Bible reading.  We agree on not reading the word with the rush of “the high-speed train”, but quietly pause when The Holy Spirit is throwing a special light on a special word.  We´re reading “the Hebrews” and its frequent “Let us”  is like the Spirit saying to us, “Let us do it together!”

That very day I wasn´t quite “up to par”.  I had moments of despondency, but  I was overwhelmed when afterwards some said, “What a wonderful time we´ve had.  Christ was exalted!”, and His smile could be seen on their faces.  Then I knew that the Lord had been there.  “Surely, the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it” –   at least I didn´t know He could be that real!

It´s not a small thing to be gathered unto His name in your home!  I feel like being the hen scratching food for her chicks!  I hate to leave them when I have to go abroad.  You know that feeling, don´t you?
