“Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing;  thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness.” Ps. 30:11

In the U.S. they often ask me, ”Is it true that you (the Danes) are the happiest people in the world?”  Of course not, but I take advantage of the moment to start talking about the joy in the Lord and what He has done to save us.

An old lady (84) in our home group always gives me this answer when I (in the American way!) ask her, “How are you doing?”  Her reply is, “The joy of the LORD is my strength!”  (Neh. 8:10).  “This is my motto”, she adds, and her face is radiant.

Some call themselves “Pentecostals”, but really every believer in Christ is a friend of Easter as well as Pentecost, for it´s impossible to be a follower of Christ without experiencing the joy of His gospel despite our many sorrows.  Where there´s no joy, there´s no strength or power.

Well, any people who know by own experience the joy in Christ are the happiest people in the world, indeed!

I´m not quoting it correctly, but in America I remember the kids were singing something like this,

If you´re happy in the Lord,
clap your hands,
if you´re happy and you know it,
then let everybody show it,
if you´re happy in the Lord clap your hands!
