What is a church? Let me be straight,
a place that Christ exalts?
Yes, any place where He is great
despite our many faults!

Is He the Head, the church is there,
and cherished is his word,
we´re happy in that springtime air
like any singing bird!

We in that fellowship so sweet
drink in His love and grace,
whenever thus we Jesus meet,
the church is such a place!

The church with Christ as our Head
was born at Pentecost
from where His precious word was spread
to other regions lost!

Revive Your work, and add, o Lord,
saved sinners to Your church,
for those you care here and abroad,
indeed, for those You search!
