This statement will offend many Christians, especially right now when the Jewish state of Israel is as isolated as never before, brought into solitary by the world community and eventually also by even the U.S.  But I  gladly identify myself with this isolation, not with the wish to become an isolationist, but on the contrary to be more bold concerning the word of God and my gospel mission during this short time still given me on this earth. In other words to lift up Jesus Christ!

Some react with anger.  “What about the Palestinians?  Don´t you care for them?  Why this favoritism  of Israel and the Jews?  Are you blind to the sufferings of  Palestinian women and children?  Are you blind, too, to the atrocity done to them by Israeli penal sanctions?”

I am not.  God is not either.  And yet please don´t miss the whole point!  The root of the whole Middle East conflict and the many, many pogroms down through the history is – to be blunt about  it- outright anti-Semitism.  The Bible is full of it, history is full of it, the U.N. is full of it, EU is full of it, and my own beloved country, Denmark, is full of it.  But what is the root of anti-Semitism?  Have you ever thought about it?  This is the answer:  It is our natural enmity against God.  Our rebellion against His word, His counsel and plan and His rule in our lives, till Christ is repentantly embraced as our Savior and Lord.

That´s why I today as His disciple find myself Jewish in its deepest sense knowing that God has a plan for Israel comprised by God´s election (oh, I can hear how that very word make my opponents furious!) “beloved for the sake of the fathers, for the gifts and the calling of Go are irrevocable!”  (Rom. 11:29).  By the way, those words are often applied to us as Christians (and God doesn´t mind for sure), but really, they concern the people of Israel in the first place.

This limited space doesn´t allow me to elaborate on all that from God´s word.  However, the Bible says, “The word which I speak will be done!”  (Ezek. 12:28) and:  ”I will place salvation in Zion, for Israel is my glory!”  (Isa. 46:13).  But what´s the aim of that Messianic glory?  Is it for Israel´s own sake?  No, in God´s own time, “Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit!”  (Isa. 27:6).  And again:  ”In that day Israel will be one of the three with Egypt and Assyria – a blessing in the land!”  (Isa. 19:24). That golden age is yet to come under the righteous scepter of Israel´s righteous King!

Make up your mind, my friend, once and for all, that you find yourself under that righteous scepter of divine authority!
