Some may the scriptures quote by heart,
John three sixteen at least,
some may be biblical and smart
like any pompous priest.

Puffed up with sanctimonious pride
they may appear all right,
they  in a church may safely hide
with glaring platform light!

Have you been broken by God´s word?
Self-made you´ll never be,
you´ll speak what you´ve been told and heard
with strange authority!

You  won´t be in the streamlined crowd
of eloquent divines,
however, you´ll be bold and loud
with no big wonder signs!

Christ will be on your trembling lips
out in the open air,
for with the people you´re at grips,
for them you groan in prayer!

Take courage, fellow soldier brave,
ev´n when you´re knocked about,
for sinners Jesus Christ does save,
oh, preach it with a shout!
