“He reasoned….in the market place daily with those who happened to be there.”  Acts 17:17.

”Lead me to some soul today, and teach me, Lord, just what to say….”  That I was praying as I sat down on a bench at our market place.  I spotted a young man with the words “Los Angeles” and the American flag on his t-shirt.  An American?  I wanted so much to talk to him and find out.  He disappeared however.

But instead two young women had a seat next to me.  “Vacant?” they asked politely.  Eventually came another two ladies with a Greenlandic look, but born in Denmark.  The girl sitting next to me, Stine (28) told me they all belonged to a Gospel choir, so I got curious and asked them if they knew what the word “gospel” means.  Stine´s guess was that it meant “God´s word” or something.  “You are close”, I said to her, “gospel is the English word for our word “evangelium”!  An animated conversation started.

“Do you know what Joh. 3:16 says?”  None of them knew.  I quoted the word slowly.  “The Americans call it The Gospel in a Nutshell”, I said.  In Denmark it´s called “The Little Bible”,  - I said that to a school class in this town and asked the children, “Why do you think it´s called The Little Bible?”  My gospel choir friends were listening with open and keen countenances.

“Well, a little boy in the class room answered my question by saying, “It´s because that word says everything!”  The girls smiled, and again we talked.  “I´m going to give you a token of remembrance”, I said to them, and I gave them my new little “silver” coin with Joh. 3:16 on it.  They liked that.  They also had my “famous” card with a short gospel word and the picture of our banner.  I told them how that card came about and about my exciting encounter with 100 precious children at a public school in Tennessee.

“I believe in God too”, Stine said, “and in Jesus and in the angels, and I pray to them”. -  “Well, it looks as if we have something to talk about”, I said.  I told them how Christ came into my life and how simple my story really is.  “He found me so that I from now on can tell you that He wants to find you too!”

“What are you?” Stine asked.  “What do you mean?”  -  “Are you an Aquarius?  That´s what I am!” – I smiled, “No, I´m a Capricorn, but I don´t go by that.”  So I shared with them what change Christ can make.

“You´d better have my card also”, Stine said.  On it I read the words, “Singer” and “Painter”, and I promised to put her on my mailing list.

There were crowds of people in the market place.  I´d been praying for “some soul”.  Suddenly I had 4 precious souls.  They were so open, Stine not the least.  “You made my day”, I said to them in parting.  My job is not to get too close to the opposite sex, but hopefully I get close to God concerning their souls.

Lead me to some soul today,
And teach me, Lord, just what to say,
Friends of mine are lost in sin
And cannot find their way.
Few there are who seem to care,
Few there are who pray!
Melt my heart and fill my life,
Give me some soul today!
