My column ”Obama and the Bible” has by some been misunderstood.  My point was not to promote Obama, but the Bible.  When Obama says, he´s reaching out after the Bible in the morning, some of my American friends would say, “Well, he says so, but he doesn´t mean it.  He is a Moslem, and Moslems are allowed to tell lies.” They claim that to be the truth.

If that is true, Obama will be held accountable before God.  My point was only an honest desire to see some of our leaders in this godless country of mine reaching out after God´s word in humility and repentance.

But I was not understood that way.  They read me as if I was promoting Obama.  I´m not promoting anybody.  I did choose to believe that Obama meant what he said about his relationship to the Bible, for “love bears all things, believes all things…”   I may be wrong.  My American friends (or several of them) would tell me that Obama is lying, and his life is not according to the Bible.  That may be sadly true.  And sadly true of us too.

But my errand was a different one.  It´s not about Obama, but about God´s word.  I get a great number of emails accusing Obama for this and that.  They may be justified , but what about obeying the Bible instead and pray for those “who are in high positions” (1 Tim. 2:2).  Doesn´t that include Obama?  Or if his name had been Nero?  Wouldn´t that be “a still more excellent way”?
