False or True? Udskriv Email

God warned His people, ”You shall not circulate a  false report.”  Or as the Living Bible puts it, “Do not pass on untrue reports.”  (Ex 3:1).  By the way, over the years I´ve received many incoming mails of untrue reports – hoax stories.

Is the gospel an untrue story?  Then don´t circulate it, don´t pass it on!  From the very start the Jewish leaders warned their people not to believe that kind of “deception” (Matt. 27:64).   It deserved to be hushed up, not to be even mentioned.

Do we, in practice, hush up the gospel?  The point is that if the report be true, it deserves to be circulated.  That´s what the  Jewish law implies and endorses.

If we are silent about Jesus, we send the signal that the story is not important enough to be mentioned.

And old, controversiaI evangelist (still living) once wrote,   “I never go to see important people – or anyone else – without having the deep realization that I am – first and foremost – an ambassador of the King of kings and Lord and lords.  From the moment I enter the room, I am thinking about how I can get the conversation around the Gospel….”

What about it?

I once knew a sincere lad whom the Lord removed from the scene in a young age.  He was partly suffering from spastic paralysis.  He often put the question to us in private, “How does your witnessing go?” He lived that kind of life himself.

Sometimes we´re very much taken up with politics, especially at elections.  Do they deserve all that attention?  Isn´t the air full of false reports?

I remember I was once standing in line for two hours in Fresno to be admitted to the big university hall where John McCain was going to speak.  As a Danish visitor I wanted  that experience.  Two hours was a long time, and yet I felt they lasted just a few minutes.  Why?  I was graciously permitted the unspeakable thrill of giving my testimony to several of the honorable Americans standing there with me.  And a glorious continuation followed later that day to the glory of Jesus Christ.

So make up your mind once and for all.  Is the gospel a true report to be passed on or not?  You may say, “It is true, I know it´s true”, but with grief you may say with the prophet “Who has believed our report?”  (Is. 53:1), implying that almost nobody believes it.  However, it should still be passed on.  Isn´t much better to circulate the truth and be opposed than to spread popular lies that are being embraced?  What do you think?
