yet without vain worldly fame,
in our likeness, sinless though
you abased yourself so low!

Were you welcomed as a Prince?
Could as such you us convince?
We no beauty saw in You,
neither did the noble Jew!

Yet the world you did not leave,
though its hatred could you grieve,
for the lost your heart went out
when on earth you walked about!

Narrow was your path for sure,
worldly charm was not your cure,
sin´s deceit you did expose,
on it you pronounced Your woes!

Oh, the wounds our sins did cause,
Yet those wounds revealed this clause:
By His stripes He bore our sin,
at His cross it did begin!

Are you sure that you are saved?

in repentant faith today!
