Though limping I lean on His word,
which God once to me gave,
with wings of faith I like the bird
fly far beyond my grave!

Mysterious is that paradox,
when I but troubles see,
the childlike trust in God unlocks
the doubts and sets me free!

God made the world by what He said,
of nothing came to pass,
the stars He way above us spread
plus every blade of grass!

Take heart and comfort in the fact:
His word is still alive,
when on His promises we act
true joy He will revive!

But faith will never go beyond
your clinging to the One
to whom we helplessly respond,
the great “I am”, God´s Son!
