(Choose your own tune)

Why is your troubled soul cast down?
Who did your peace disturb?
Upset by an opponent´s frown
Just count it joy superb!

You sided with the lonely man
who stood before the Lord,
whose errand tearfully he ran,
but with the Spirit´s sword!

The prophet Jeremiah was
your pattern though despised,
committed to God´s solemn cause
his soul was agonized!

Shoe leather to your faith just take,
The prophet set the pace!
Friends may you as God´s friend forsake,
however run your race!

Oh, look by faith to Jesus Christ,
enduring here His shame,
vain gains you may have sacrificed,
yet press on in His name!
